Taking Tech for “Grant”-ed

How a collaborative plan and targeted grant funding transformed a private Christian school’s approach to technology.

A private Christian school was working hard with limited tools—whiteboards, aging computers, and a curriculum that hadn’t kept pace with the digital world. The vision for better was there, but the funding wasn’t.

With no technology budget in place, we helped turn that vision into action—with a smart plan, strong communication, and targeted grants that brought it all to life.

The Challenge

The school had only one outdated computer lab, overhead projectors, and basic whiteboards serving the entire student body. Teachers lacked tools. Students lacked exposure. And the infrastructure couldn’t support the modern programs needed to equip students for the world ahead.

The Solution:

A Community-Backed, Grant-Funded Plan

A task force of faculty, parents, board members, and university partners created a developmentally appropriate technology plan. We worked closely with them to:

  • Pilot-test devices and tools using loaned equipment

  • Form subcommittees to focus on funding and implementation

  • Write and secure mission-aligned grants totaling $30,000

  • Invest in infrastructure, hardware, software, and faculty development

  • Supported clear messaging on responsible tech use—and the real issues that come with it.

  • Build buy-in early with clear communication to staff, board, and parents

The Results

  • A once-rudimentary tech setup and infrastructure became exemplary in less than a year

  • Teachers received professional development alongside new tools

  • Students gained access to updated tech that enhanced learning daily

  • The community rallied around a vision—and helped make it happen

The Takeaway

A good plan matters. But a good plan with the right people—and the right funding—can transform everything. At True North, we help schools build a path from aspiration to implementation.
