About the Owner — Chris Herold
After 30 years in the nonprofit world—and a bit of for-profit business building along the way—I’ve learned what helps mission-driven organizations not just survive, but actually work better.
My experiences as leader of one of the largest Scout camping operations in the country and a private school principal offered plenty of examples to follow and some to avoid!
I started True North to share that hard-won experience with schools, camps, youth programs, and nonprofits that are doing truly important work but feeling stretched thin.
If you’re trying to find funding, streamline systems, or get things out of your head and into a plan—we should talk.
I’ve worn a lot of hats in this space:
Writing – Grants, policy manuals, program guides, handbooks, job descriptions
Training – Health & safety, onboarding, Mental Health First Aid
System Fixes – Registration, planning, procurement, admissions, communications, onboarding, inventory, and sales
Volunteer Support – Recruitment, fundraising, curriculum, event planning, special projects
Now I help other leaders lighten the load and focus on what really matters.
Let’s make the mission a little less messy—and a lot more doable.
